I have been reading on another thread about inserting a frame (or two) of foundation into the brood nest to encourage the queen to lay more eggs and in that way get a larger number of winter bees.
I thought I would give it a go because there was very little room for one of my queens to lay as they have put so many stores into the brood box.
Everyone else seems to get lots of drawn comb, followed by lots of eggs. Me, I get lots of drawn comb filled with pollen and stored syrup. There is still brood on the frames either side. So I give up and put the frame with the stores in it where it should be, at the edge of the brood and not in the middle. I know they are laughing at me.
