Had ours a few days ago. Yours are obviously late ;)

Ours too. Each year they emerge from a gap between the conservatory and the concrete path. I give them a liberal application of ant powder and let things take their course.

Had ours a few weeks ago in London, but I was in Dublin on Sunday evening and they were EVERYWHERE.

They are a feast for all sorts though. Not only airborne predators but the wingless survivors are eaten by ground foraging birds, especially green woodpeckers and I once saw a hedgehog munching through a heap of ants that had cornered themselves against a raised manhole cover.
