First Swarm collected

Morning all

Collected my first swarm yesterday from our neighbours garden, the swarm was not from mine as I was inspecting mine at the time.

On Friday had a swarm move into one of my bait hives and have stayed.

I did keep bees around 20 years ago, and did not expect to have this many in my first year.

Looks a good sized swarm, hope they stay!

how did you Collect them

Large box, brushed them off the fence and housed them in spare hive.

Bit early to tell until eggs are laid or there was a marked queen in there.

loads of new beekeeps out there who don't know how to use swarm control. I reckon we will see loads more swarms for the next couple of years ... hooray ... free bees!!!!!! Well done and welcome back after 20 years

It was a prime swarm, they are covering 7 frames in the new brood

I thought it could only be considered a prime swarm if there is a laying queen in it. You can get some big caste swarms as well.

I olny planed for 3 hives this year, up 2 5 now....may be I may pick up a cast as well..
