Hi,
I've been looking at this forum from time to time but only recently registered.
I should mention that I used to work in the microelectronics industry and then helped run a B&B until last year so time on beekeeping was limited until recently.
I've been keeping bees since 1990 when I moved to our current house. It was at the time of the major housing crash and the only practical idea the bank manager could come up with! I now run my own taster courses and sell nucs on a limited scale, so after many years the hobby does pay for itself.
I also run branch courses and am part of the branch mentoring programme for beginners.
In terms of qualifications I took all 8 of the modules in 1998-2000 and General Husbandry 3 years ago.
Did try for the BBKA Advanced Husbandry, which I should have walked through as I had an assessor help me in the preparation, but for some reason must have fell foul of the BBKA way of doing things or else they just got mixed up, and the feedback was more confusing than enlightening.
Am planning on taking the Microscopy exam this year and have been coordinating a microscopy study group for the branch over the last year where the aim is we all teach and learn microscopy together. This has been consolidated by a very useful NDB Microscopy weekend course which helped fill in gaps in our knowledge.
