I'm in the fortunate position that my day job means I carry a decent phase contrast microscope when I travel to sites around the country. So it makes sense for me to use it for something more interesting!
Today I managed to test one of my hives for nosema (clear to my untrained eye) and prepare slides of Crocus and snowdrop. I also attempted dead nettle but could only find a grand total of 2 pollen grains on that one
Really pleased with this other aspect of beekeeping and I'm looking forward to finding more pollen samples (must learn to identify more wild flowers)
