Here is my Tip.. i weigh them weekly and never ever crack the crown board of at this time of the year let alone splitting the boxes, even in my first season i knew to leave well alone , it has worked for me so far.
I would like to do same, but am feeding fondant on top bars below the crown board so have to crack it open. Prefer to do this, so thT the fondant is over the brood to prevent isolation. Can do this in less than 30 seconds.
