Hello, I have attempted for the first time, Demaree preemptive swarm prevention on three colonies. All three on double brood (varying from 10-15 frames of bias), reasonable stores and pollen, a current nectar flow, no queen cells started.
I have read posts on this forum, following advice on both the manipulation technique and type of split board from Yorkshire bees, Jenkinsbrynmair and Hivemaker. I also have read this.
http://www.kentbee.com/stw/bm~doc/demaree-method-of-swarm-control.pdf
I have left a small door open on the split board underneath the top brood box at 180 degrees from main entrance to allow drones to escape, I have used drawn empty comb throughout the bottom box and left the queen on the comb I found her on and added one comb of stores (thus 8 empty combs in the bottom box) I have placed a queen excluder above the bottom box and there are 2 drawn comb supers between 2 hives and 3 (2 full) on another.
Is there anything to add or that I have missed?
kind regards
