Extended Queen cells

Found these pictures I had from last year taken on my mobile phone, so thought I'd share them.
Whilst helping someone inspect some nucs. that were 'on sale' we found this Queen cell. I assume that the larvae had been dislodged from it's original position during transit and the bees had extended the cell to accommodate the loss of length.
I'd be interested in your comments.(or theories)
 
Looks like a cell with a drone larvae in, some call them king cells, also looks to be surrounded by drone brood.

PS Is it the fact that the cell is surrounded by 'drone comb' that you say it is a 'king' cup, or am I missing something (or being a bit thick)?
