Hello everyone,

New to the forum and beekeeping.
I live just outside Chelmsford in Essex and have joined here to learn about beekeeping and start a hive or two in 2025.

If it's not too late put the Haynes Bee Manual by Claire Waring on your Christmas list.

Thanks for the welcome, yes I ordered that book this morning, Amazon special so it arrives tomorrow.
Not looked for the local association yet, so I will have to get on to that.
Joined here first as gives me the oppertunity to do some research and get reacdy for Spring.

Umbrella organisation is the Essex Beekeepers Association Chelmsford is one of the divisions.

Strongly urge you to join your local division of Bbka. I used to live in Essex and was a member of the Colchester division. It was very good. Most associations offer a beginners theory course starting in Jan or Feb, usually followed by practical sessions at an apiary.
I advise you not to buy any kit until you do the theory course. Kit can be expensive and you want to get it right.
Colchester used to offer a free nucleus colony of bees to anyone completing the course
