‘If bees were to disappear off the face of the earth then the
human race would only have four years of life left.’ So,
here’s your chance to join in the noble bid to circumvent
this dismal future.’
Albert Einstein

Einstein never said this! did anyone ???

Cut and pasted from a business plan that is in itself a cut and paste!

Then I suppose everything is relative

Yeghes da

10 most important cultivation plants do not need any insect to fertilize crop.

If honey bee dies, there are tens of thousands pollinating insect species in the World.

And from where Einstein would get the idea into his head? What was going to kill bees .

Ecology was totally new in Einstein's days. It was just killed 90 million people in II World War, and then he started to think about bees. Why?

But there are still three bears in the wood cottage.

As well as Einstein's theory, the theory that bees are vanishing everywhere, it is a fairytale.

In USA bees have vanished 10 years, and hive number is still the same. .

Never question any public folk lore that helps you sell more honey.

You can cheat the customer only once.

.

Public folklore is what your customers believe. You don't puncture their bubble, for example, by telling them that edible honey has never been found in Egyptian pyramids.... when they tell me it was.
Golden rule of selling; "the customer is always right".

At least I help the customer to be right

The feral bees numbers have dropped drastically

That Einstein 'quote' was never seen before the late 1980's I believe. It actually HAS been researched and found to have its oldest known useage in some kind of grant application by French beekeepers some 30 odd years ago. Amazing how often it comes up. When I was in Brussels making representations a few years back we did a tv interview and the MEP we were with quoted it on camera. After we were finished I pointed out this was a mythical statement he was quite unfazed as it got the point across regardless of authenticity.

Not completely sure but I think it is referred to on Snopes.

Isn't that more due to mobile phones & the internet?

because more people can identify a swarm of hone bees and pass the locations of said swarms on to those who can collect swarms before they become fully blown "Feral Colonies"?

20 years ago we had a swarm at work, Someone squirted a fire extinguisher & they flew off.

Last year another swarm, 3 beekeepers turned up from the workforce! !

From what I read on forums and Facebook, anyone finding wild honey bees seems intent on cutting down the tree and removing the bees to a hive. Usual excuse is for public safety.

Agree with ITLD, it's a recent fabrication. IIRC it was invented/adopted by a French environmental protest in the mid 1990's as a seemingly credible soundbyte. No earlier traces of it were found.

ETA: yes, here it is on Snopes, and the earliest documented report was by French beekeepers protesting in Brussels in 1994.
