St Piran is associated with Cornwall and the Cornish language is a distinct language from the Welsh (Q Celts and P Celts). The name St Piran is derived from St Ciarán, his name in his native Ireland.
St Patrick was an Englishman and a good Protestant.

There is now evidence to believe Peran may have been Welsh and a student of Dewi. Padrig was not English as the buggers hadn't even arrived on this island - he was Romano British thus has the blood of the original residents, what we now call Welsh.
When the saxon hordes came over the British were pushed to the edges of the island - we lost the 'old north' (Gododdin, Caeredin and the likes) and ended up in Wales and Cernyw - those that didn't cross over the water to little britain (Brittany)
the Cornish language is similar to the Welsh - a lot of words being similar or identical - just pronounced differently.
As for being a protestant - either a very weak attempt at getting a bite or totally oblivious to the thousand or so year time difference.

Only ever caught two Greyling beautiful fish, both released unarmed apart from the hole in the mouth from barbless hook.

St Piran Lowen.......... somewhat more than twentythousand Cornishmen stood* and sang Trelawny [ note correct spelling with only one "e"!!] in unison at 9.00 PM last night!
