I was checking the front of the hive this afternoon and I noticed a couple of big bees. I think they might have been Drones but wasn't sure. I am not great at identifying them yet. They seemed to make a slightly different tone in their buzz. Would that be correct?
I haven't done an inspection yet. They are pulling in loads of Pollen but also seem to have cleared a block of fondant too, greedy beggars!

Thanks. I think that was it as it was significantly bigger and sounded different. the problem was there were lots of bees at the entrance.

They are useful for practising handling queen's. They won't sting you so you can do it with bare hands. Practise marking the drones and or clipping the wings but if you do mark them then kill them afterwards!
