I'm sure most have heard of the SHB outbreaks in Calabria in Italy. Now I see that Bee-Equipment are selling packages of bees from Puglia, only 100 miles from the outbreak. To me this sounds like the introduction of Varroa all over again. Am I alone in thinking this is extraordinarily risky behaviour?

Probably in their interest... as they could then sell loads more kit for beekeepers to tackle yet another entirely preventable pest!

I received an email from them today saying there are a few packages available - and I had the same thought as you bpmurray.

It's too risky really.

Been following this business since the discussion last year. They're telling you no problems, right? Packages being checked, right? No bees being shipped in from anywhere near the infestation, right?

!00 miles? Right!

This is just a no-brainer. Avoid. Why take the risk?
