I have built these for moving my hives up to the Heather and thought some people may find it useful.

I used:

2440 x 1220 x 9mm plywood
Langstroth Varroa mesh
10mm scews
Scrap from wood merchant

I appreciate that the hole could maybe be bigger but for current conditions this seems fine with a varroa floor.
Total cost per screen is under a fiver.

The wood was cut free at bandq to size.

I also put a nail in 2 of the sides to keep it attached to the hive so it doesn't slip when moving.

The board and the cutout are numbered to tell what fits where

Brilliant idea!

Don't do what I did and use mesh that was half a mm too big! The journey was thirty minutes and luckily it took them 25 mins to work it out but the last five minutes were interesting to say the least! Luckily I had my suit on just in case!!!
