Been really thinking about your project and having a go myself.

Now for the really "stupid" question could I use a new B + Q water butt, as I have one surplus, for the vessel?

I assume plastic is plastic when for own use or will it taint taste of honey?

In hindsight, using a food grade plastic bin was probably overkill when the honey is for domestic consumption only. I would guess that any properly sterilised container of a suitable size would do.

In case you are wondering, the plastic rings were cut out with a hole saw from my wifes kitchen chopping board which she kindly sacrificed. I've since replaced it with one from IKEA for €1.32
