Number of Hives
24 + a few nucs....this has to stop!
I recall Ricky telling me that he introduced nucs directly into full hives by putting the frames of brood from the nuc directly in the centre of a BB after removing the necessary amount of frames to make space and the unwanted queen. The new queen from the nuc was placed uncaged in the middle of her brood and bees.
I have never tried it myself opting for the safer option of newspaper unite but wanted to check if others use this method regularly as I have a few nucs to merge over the coming weeks. Thanks

I’ve done it a couple of times but I’ll stick with the news paper. Simply because it works and safe, it’s a bit like uniting with air freshener. It works but it doesn’t take much to have a sheet handy. Also I think it depends a bit on your bees if they are defensive take the precautions. I’ve united plenty of swarms before by dumping in the same box, all worked fine until 1 day carnage.
