Did I see where somebody had posted cutting plan for 1220 x 2440 sheet of ply or that they had worked it out? or have I just imagined it whilst under the unfluence of the evil drink?

Thanks for the answer but not what I am looking for.
I was after a cutting list for a full sheet of ply that maximises useage..

Hi dishmop.
Found this software smart2dcutting free trial offer, fantastic.

Takes a little while to learn how to use but is great for getting best cuts for any size plywood just put in brood box/super sizes print out the results pop along to b&q for free cutting and bees your uncle.
Hope this is what you are looking for.

Not relevant, but my first IT job involved 2D cutting list optimization. The program ran all day on an expensive mini-computer and could only just keep up with the saw operators. I bet these PC versions run in 100th of the time.
Ours also p155ed off the assembly people as they got their bits in dribs and drabs.

Look at the National 8 by 4 Layout and I think this gives you what you want for supers.

Are you cutting them yourself, or asking the timber yard to do it?

Thanks for the answers.. Its somewhere to start.

Not what you want, but I get almost all my 2440mm x 1220mm sheets cut into five 460mm sheets that are small enough for me to handle with my limited tooling and get acceptable to good results without being too prescriptive about things.

I switch between what I'm building depending on what's important on the day. Crown boards have a low priority.

That's the sort of thing I was looking for. I remember somebody saying that the had the sheet cut to the sizes they wanted for nucs, but cant remember if they posted the list or just mentioned that they had a cutting list.
Time for some drawing on graph paper...

I get them cut the other way - long lengths the height of brood box and super sides. That way there is less problems with getting things square.
