Too many - but not nearly enough
Feel I have to post this as I appreciate good service and VFM.
Realised last week during extracting that my (rather large) stash of 30lb buckets was more or less gone, shopped around and the best prices were quoted by Paynes - I ordered a stack for myself and a friend late Wednesday evening - got an email at start of business Thursday to say they were dispatched, arrived Friday!!
Same story today (I knew I should have ordered more!!) still need another dozen or so buckets so Decided to top up stores and order again. Ten minutes after ordering, items already despatched :D

Not a one-off either, I had a similar need at the end of July. Ordered Thursday about 10am, were with me by Friday lunchtime.
Paynes price also very good at less than half of both Thornes and Maisemore, they have either got it wrong or other suppliers are taking the proverbial.

They've always had good prices on their buckets - just had an email from Fedex, delivery tomorrow :D

Sounds very good service... how much do they charge for delivery for the likes of buckets?

For foodgrade poly buckets (with snap on airtight lids) my association bulk buys from the manufacturers RPC of Oakham and we find these work out cheaper than those from bee equipment suppliers

Well man don't leave us hanging...how cheap can you get them?
£2/bucket is a decent price.

Bought a few couple of weeks ago, they worked out at £1.24 each including VAT, so just over £1 after claiming that back.

How many did you need to buy to get that price and where.....
If your "usual" 10,000 then out of my league :)

Do you email them an order or what? Their website has plenty of 'stuff' but not easy to find what you want...
I think this is it?

Or do you know where on the website the buckets are shown?

Pallet of 390 buckets, bought two pallets of them, there was a delivery charge, but after negotiating for a discount the guy I dealt with knocked £20 off that.

Aye, thought as much..about 600 more than I would ever need in a year.
I thought you pros with several tons of honey each year would be using large barrels rather than smaller buckets?
Is there a reason why you use the smaller size (I'm assuming 10 litre/30lb buckets)??

Yes 10 liter buckets, hold 33lb of honey.

We use both as some buyers prefer buckets, I prefer 300kg barrels though, sent off six of them last week, much easier than dealing with buckets.

33lb is about 15 litres?

A Litre of honey weighs about 1.44 kg so a 10 litre bucket should hold 14.4kg of honey which is just under 32lb.

I'm getting my weights and measurement mixed up so ignore me. :)

I'm totally unused to measurement systems where a hundredweight is 112 pounds and a stone is 14 pounds. Looks like these buckets hold 2.36 stone of honey.

I've never packed honey in buckets. Some of my customers provide their own gallon and half gallon jars. I sell all the honey I produce at retail either in quarts or in 8 ounce bottles.

:biggrinjester:I know a lady who gets them for me when I need a few. She had supplied quite a few until she retired fom r pc, but there are still relatives who work there so I just need to wait a little longer before a tube of ten buckets and lids is dropped off at my door. I don’t care if they have slight ‘shorts’ (lids still seal tight), or rejected for other reasons, but they have always been good ones, straight from the injection moulding machines...

Costs me a bottle of wine at birthday and Christmas - whether I need any or not, so real cost of buckets is zilch.
