Jointly organised by Cornwall Beekeepers Association and
West Cornwall Beekeepers Association.
A Bit of a Do will be taking place at Truro School on Saturday 17th September 2011 with refreshments available from 9.00 am for a 10 am start. Our keynote speaker is Graham Royle from Cheshire Beekeepers Association. Graham holds the BBKA Master Beekeeper certificate, the National Diploma in Beekeeping and was awarded the Wax Chandler’s prize in 2002. Since 2005, Graham has been teaching microscopy and anatomy at the NDB Advanced Beekeeping course held each year at the NBU in York. In the morning Graham will share with us his fascination for microscopy in a talk entitled “Bees through the Looking Glass” and in the afternoon we are pleased to announce he will be giving his highly entertaining talk “If Heath Robinson had been a Beekeeper”. Apart from talks we plan to have practical sessions on assessing and treating varroa in your colonies. There will be trade stands selling a wide range of beekeeping equipment, a huge selection of books for you to browse and buy, and there will be displays by BIPCO, CBIBB and FERA. This year we are inviting beekeepers to bring along their inventions and gadgets (or photographs of them if they are too big) and Graham Royle will be judging the entries, the best of which will receive a prize. Tickets are available at £7 each in advance and £10 on the door. Space is limited and we advise you to buy your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
A pasty or sandwich lunch may be purchased from the school refectory, or you are welcome to bring a packed lunch. Refreshments will be available in the breaks for a donation. The school has ample parking and directions will be sent to you along with your tickets.
To obtain your tickets please download an application form from the website and send it, along with your cheque made payable to “BOAD”, and a stamped self-addressed envelope to
