On checking the hives today i spotted this at the entrance of one..the bees where trying to pull it out but it had me stumped what it was.. that was until i spotted another clear piece on the floor outside the hive..it was the plastic bag that i had put around a bit of fondant a while ago.. it is amazing how they managed to get it through a small hole in the crown board and then through a super and brood box and out of the entrance block..they are amazingly strong and determined little insects for sure..

Cling film can be even worse, shredded and gets stuck in mouse guards (if used) and blocking them... and lots of bees get caught up in the shredded film and die, the queen could also be one of them. Another thing they get caught up in is duct tape when they shred the backing off that.

I have read about duct tape and i will not use the stuff.. i will also not use freezer bags anymore several bees where tangled and dead in the mess at the entrance..just aswell i spotted it before they blocked the narrow tunnel entrance..
