A quick question: I have been offered 4 colonies in Dadant hives and need to go and pick them up next Tuesday. However, the donor has said he can only meet at 2pm and I am wondering how best to keep the bees healthy given that they would likely have been trapped in their respective hives since the early morning, and I would still need to drive them an additional 2.5 hours after picking them up. Does anyone have any tips to keep the bees from getting too stressed? Or is it simply a case of 'deal with it'?
