Clearing supers, bees roaring, what should I do

My bees make no distress noise if I use the petrol blower to clear a super, it must be the way forward.

Shake bees off each comb for extraction, brush off any lingerers, put frame in a spare super on the ground close by, put lid on super to stop followers raiding it, when finished move it away and slightly tilt it and then I use petrol blower to finish the bee clearing bar maybe one or two whose heads were in the cells. Then put supers on bench in garage with window open and leave for half an hour. No rhombus, canadian or porter escapes necessary. Fini - simple. Noise free and I am not in the least bit stressed and bees don't seem to be either. But then one never knows but if they do what comes naturally afterwards, why worry.

Likewise veg as they just fly back in the entrance and done in a few minutes per box, never ceases to amaze me how well some hang on though.

I thought the guy was uncapping at the start of this vid , then I expected a bowl of mashed bees but all appeared ok in the end

I bet there were a fair few dead ones VM, plus the bees he returned to the original box looked pretty unhappy , and all this with no vail !! he is a braver man than me

Not the way I would treat bees calm or not
This families prime concern is obviously honey .
Seemingly rough handling but the mortality rate must be low otherwise "no bees no business"

I thought my bees were on drugs they are so easy to handle but this blokes bees must be on anaesthetics ... what's even more incredible is that his extraction room appears to be at the end of his bee shed ! How does he get away with all this and not have bees trying to kill him and his family ?

I expect most of us have bees that can be worked in just the same way, just that many get suited up like spacemen and never find out what their bees are really like.

Hmmm .... I've drilled holes in my hive without a spacesuit on and they have largely ignored me, I've handled them with surgical gloves where I've discovered the palm and fingers have been ripped out and I've had them crawling on my skin without getting stung, I stand in front of the hive and watch them coming and going and they fly round me ... but - it takes a real leap of faith to go completely commando when you open them up. I'm not sure I'm that confident yet !

Going commando is fine... until the bees have a bad day or you drop a frame.

A couple of mine are fine around the hive, but I wouldn't open them up without the armour on

He would be better shaking and brushing the bees of the frames and using the machine for uncapping the frames, i film showed them uncapping the frames with a fork which seemed out of place and slowed things up a bit, having said that a very interesting clip.

A very neat and tidy operation don't think I noticed one box out of line and the bees also just how clean were the frames. I also noticed the inside of the boxes were painted and wonder what the advantage of painting the insides.

Yes ... I noticed that ... possibly whitewash (lime wash ?) ... works for red mites in chicken sheds - might be anti varroa treatment ? All seemed very clean ....

Dont think so, perhaps just a cleaning thing and can see him scrubbing each box clean at the end of the season.
