Not just brake discs: this month's "Practical Classics" runs a test on rust removal and coke is on the list. Brick cleaner is also supposed to be good for rust removal. (Not that I am comparing coke and brick cleaner! ;) )

Brick cleaner doesn't deserve that association.

And it's not advisable to snort brick cleaner either

SWMBO had a problem with noisy/squeaking brakes on her car last year so she purchased a big can of WD40 to remedy the situation - luckily I got sight of said purchase before she applied it!
 
PS Google not used and I prefer PlusGAs or Tech & to t'other stuff. Brake fluid is another rust remover par excellance, being dammed useful when trying to remove broken heater plugs and studs etc. Just don't let it near any paint to want to retain......
 
wasn't it the 40th test they tried backwards, to find a compound that displaced water???
 
the pity of it is is that only the useless stuff is retained....:banghead:
