A friend has worked with stingless bees in Africa and they build pods more like a bumble bee nest hoizontal with no combs as such, but that may not be the only stingless bee.

He didnt seem to find and isolate the queen onto a non transferred frame. One frame he put across he didnt look at far side. just my luck to transfer the queen too!!
And those shorts-- asking for trouble.. Makes my joggers look excessive
