Bees & wool

My neighbour has just read in a book that bees do not like woollen garments. I have never heard this before. Can anyone provide information, please?

It's in some of the books as the bes get entangled in it the same as hair.

I believe it's as PH has said because they cam get entangled in it. There not going to attack you for wearing wool but will sting if they get caught up in it as they would if became entangled in hair.

bees certainly don't like OH's mane of curly dark hair.

As i understand it bees have evolved to be aggressive towards bears. anything big, dark and hairy will get attacked.

PS not sure if tight white vest and leather biker hat enrage them further.

not unless its that one that your Nan made for you last Christmas with the big pudding on it, and a robin perched on top, then they will attack you for having bad taste

I've read in different places that bees don't like:

large, dark shapes
hairy surfaces
cut grass
smell of fish.

I wonder what kind of animal pacing about a hive this all adds up to ?

The person wearing the wool, irrespective of the colour, is the first one to get nobbled whe we get out of the truck at a bee site. Be it the jumper, the hat, the socks, whatever............they get banjoed pretty soon after arrival.

I have heard this discussion before, is it actually the wool or something given off by the chemicals used to dye the wool? just a thought
