What's even nicer is ten years later being approached by a different magazine asking if they can reprint the series of articles. That's flattering.

Jane and Geordie got another breath of life.

I enjoyed that article more than any other in that edition, although the varroa feeding came close.
As you can guess, this was my second year.

I don't get the magazine either, any chance of your original notes if not the finished article? :)

It was a great read, thanks!
I can remember thinking we were so organised each time we inspected, arriving with a "plan", only to find that the bees had done something completely different that wasn't in the book! :D

Good article and I enjoyed it very much.

If I have a criticism, and it is a very minor one, you might have mentioned that sometimes you will not enjoy the luxury of an easy first season and these sorts of issues can arrive literally within weeks of getting started.

Still - much appreciated.

I often don't fully read fully many articles in the BBKA News, but Enrico I will certainly look forward to your future articles. Great stuff and well done.

This is still the case here sometimes after 8 years beekeeping, but is this not what makes beekeeping sooo interesting. I love it! But I agree year two is the 'baptism of fire' and well done Enrico with your article and I am looking forward to reading the others. X

Eric, just reading your latest article now. I found a gem in there that I want to try out - resting the first frame over half of the brood box - keeping the bees calm and in the dark. I've been putting frames down the side, leaning against the hive or hive stand, but that makes sense to me so I'll give it a bash. Cheers!

How long have you been using the "conveyor belt" frame movements? Have you come across any frames bulging with comb and difficult to slot in at the end?

Thanks Japey, if you make sure your frames are always the right distance apart that rarely happens but if it does i presume it would be stores!! Remember the frames are always moving so they were once centre brood frames which I find helps to keep them a regular size
I would maybe swap the frame for a new one if it was that fat!!! And use the stores!
Will post this month's on the blog page today. I wait until it is published before adding it

Brilliant Eric thank you. I noticed you have the plastic spacers whereas I am running a mix of DN4 & DN5's. I just remember I struggled once with a frame that was bulging with stores and I had to put everything back together like a puzzle box.

This month's issue is quite interesting - looking forward to next month and hopefully seeing the bees again.
