I collected a plywood bait hive that I set up 3 springs ago with some black smelly comb inside on a single frame screwed to the top of the box. When I opened it up, as expected, the wax had gone , but I was not expecting the frame to have gone also. The screw I had used to screw it to the top of the box was still there, but the frame was no more. What would eat the frame and leave the plywood alone?

Were the nails from the frame there?

If there is no evidence of the frame at all (no nails, no dust and no attack on the plywood at all) then it is either the lesser spotted hive thief OR the memory of the bee keeper :) (You DID put a frame in there, not just intend to put a frame in there?)

If there is some evidence then give us clues.

I suspect it's a case of altz..? alks..?

oh, I've forgotten what it's called again :)

Lol. No frame nails. Off to get assessed! I'm only 58 though.
