Hi, I have all of my spare equipment on standby as I am expecting/hoping that my healthy/large over wintered colony will prepare to swarm soon ish, as I want to use the very nice original queen to head her colony and one of her daughters to head the AS/split. Question: I have an 8ft hive stand on which I eventually want both hives, but after re-reading the manipulation notes I will end up with the depleted original colony "no less than 1 metre in another part of the apiary to the other side of its second position". I know the 3 ft rule, but at some stage surely I will have to switch sides with the other hive, unless I move both a bit at a time. How do you usually approach this manoeuvre? (I hope this makes sense?)
