I ordered 7 terracotta and 6 grey plant saucers from Amazon. They were an "Add on item" as it would not be cost effective to despatch singly.
They arrived: 4 terra in 4 separate boxes
Next day 2 terra in 2 separate boxes
Followed 2 days later by 1 terra and the 6 grey in a slightly larger box.

The boxes for the singles would take the whole order.

P.S. The saucers are £3.69 each so the carriage probably cost more than the product. The Hermes driver was happy as he had 4 boxes for 1 delivery.

At least if he had dropped one box they wouldn't all have broken!

The packers in the Amazon ware house are given the task of "boxing" up so many parcels in their shift time....So the more they box up the easier it is for them....Time wasting???

When an employee is forced to piss in a pop bottle as they can be penalised for any breaks, I doubt they really think about more efficient packing - just process each order slip as it is thrown at them.
I also reckon that, just to make the dire soul destroying nature of their jobs a bit more tolerable they have a weekly sweepstake to see who can get the smallest item into the biggest box :D
