Good Luck with the queen intro. but I hate to say the odds are probably against you. The chances are you have a dud queen already and the bees will just kill your new one.

I've heard lots of similar stories this year and lots of queries about spare queens.

Definitely worth reiterating the benefit of running 2 colonies so you have other safer (and cheaper) options open to you in future.
