Not saying it's true or false, haven't had much experience of them but my second generation ones seemed fine when I did have them.

I've raised queens from pure Buckfast mothers which aren't too bad, sure they have their off days but are easily worked, much more gentle than my top bar mutts that's for sure!

I've not noticed any serious consistent problem. Ok there's an odd off day. I believe a lot depends on the local drone genetics.
