Tying up loose ends last September (there were loose ends: it was my first crop) I ended up with some open stores: maybe a couple of frames worth, no more. They were fumigated with acetic acid, along with everything else (wax moth), which prevented fermentation. They have now gone back on the source hive, which is super-strong, and I am sure can deal with it whatever the answer to my question is.
Obviously the open stores are tainted, but so is everything already on there (with thymol, from the Apiguard which went on when these frames came off). The bees were fanning it like mad last night, and the smell was not horrible, and not "vinegary" or "yeasty" , which was good. If they seal it, it will go to nucs but I am just curious what to expect. Any experience? Will they treat it as normal or as a waste product to be eliminated?
