On the final lap - transferring last lot of honey from the bucket to the jars and...

I realised that when I put the bucket and honey gate together for the last run, I'd put it on upside down so the gate opened down rather than up !! oh the sticky mess we made. :hairpull:

I thought I'd mention that I'd been a silly moo - just hope no one else does the same.

We've all done daft things ....most of mine involve a lack of measuring, planning or forethought.

My classic was putting the mesh on the removable floor of my home made hive on the wrong side of the timber frame that supported it ... result 2" of space under the bottom of the frames ... and my girls just love that space for extra comb building.

But, the real bugbear is that the my intention to have the floor (which is held on by hive clips) easily removable is not easily achieved.

Plan twice, Measure twice, think three times ... Dohhhh

:blush5: I've learnt the "honey flows silently" lesson - twice!! So how dull does that make me??! (It's OK, I know the answer to that one :) )

Not as dumb as me who overturned a bucket of honey... (fortunately it was cold and viscous so the disaster was not of flood size but even so..)

Or just get a Labrador! Cleans everything!

The other thing that is easy to do is put the moving part of the gate on back to front so that the flat side faces outwards. It seals well while you are filling it but when you come to open the gate it sort of explodes out of every side! So.......flat side in...not out.....lesson learned!

Also easy to do is over-tighten the gate and while honey is pouring from your extractor through the filter it is also quietly seeping onto the floor.
