    2nd Swarm

    After having a swarm take up residence in a spare BB in my garden last Thursday, I get home to another making it their home today.     paid £82.50 for the 300 = 27.5p per jar can't remember exactly what the price was for the 500 but know I wasn't going to save any more if I bought them think it was around 27.73p per jar

    I think it was around .25 of a penny cheaper per jar in the 300 against buying 500 I bought the 300 after checking the difference....

    Mixed batch - first inspections today

    Combined the colonies today....removed Q- / Drone laying queen/ laying workers hive from stand and replaced with Q+ colony, as it was warm the bees were flying and plenty of pollen going in with bees from original colony. Went through Q- hive frame by frame, still was a good size colony...

    Checked my five hives today....first check this year and mixed bag.... All colonies are way behind last year at this time. Small colony was a 'mating nuc' had plenty of pollen going in any days the sun was out (in my garden so see what happens every day)...was buzzing and busy..eggs. brood...

    Many thanks folks, all much appreciated. In reality, I have no chance of saving the queen as there are too few bees, however, am always of the mindset that nothing ventured nothing gained and, for sure, any attempt is better than giving up without trying :) A little cold spell in next two days...
