    Ivy honey

Due to the bad year I had last year. Ivy was the choice of collection. Supers filled with the stuff, hard crystalline filled cells. I tried extracting last year, some of this got into the honey that was spun out and set the whole lot off in the settling tank, rock solid. I am tempted to dispose...

Queen Cells in Hive, recently swarmed...

Do you have enough space in your original hive? May need to add a super so the bees don't feel too over crowded. The qc would have come out at around the same time if formed at a similar time (when you state chewed open, is it a neat circle or cut down the length of the cell?), it may be too...

Is there still a shortage of bees this year?

I may be one of he lucky few. One hive full and getting ready to swarm, split it into a nuc. Two others are building up nicely after a bit of frame swapping. The new queens are laying a treat.

Ivy honey in the brood frames

On inspecting stores in the brood, I noticed quite a lot of set ivy honey. Does anyone know if 1) leave it the bees will sort it out or 2) remove frames when the time and numbers of bees is right? Has any one had the same issue?

    Queen problem

When you say a few, how many? I did the same and left it 4 weeks before a test frame was introduced. The fifth week (today) new queen seen and no queen cells on the test frame. So leave it until a little longer if you can. Then consider buying a mated queen etc
