    Wrapping and feeding

To wrap or not to wrap. I live in North Yorkshire, comments please. Also, where is the best place for fondant, over the crown board or directly over the frames. I lost my two colonies last year, and I believe that it was starvation! Thank you for your help.

    The truth behind fondants

I would rather think that although out of the statute of limitations, there is still a criminal act of fraud, and that the Police would be interested.

    Questioning beekeeping aims!

    Why do you keep bees?

    Spring feed

As a fairly new beekeeper, what are the ”rules” for spring feeding in North Yorkshire? To feed or not to feed? Thank you.

Sole trader, Limited Company or what?

I always thought that this forum was about beekeeping, not business. I keep bees because I like to do so, not to make money!

How much to sell nucs for

I conclude that beekeeping is a business and not a hobby! I never think of making money from my hobby, except for some honey. I don’t feel that a nuc costs anything, they were free to me and I had the equipment. I’m in it for the bees, not the money..

    I'm back!

    Adding a supplement

In my opinion, for my bees, Hive Alive has worked, so this is my proof.

    Varroa

It was a belt and braces job, but not using too harsh a method for backup!

    Varroa

I want to stop, and leave it to natural resistance. However, I have, for the first time, used sugar powder.

    Varroa treatment survey

So many problems with chemicals, so why bother? sugar powder or natural resistance. Chemicals shouldn’t be used on animals for anything!

    Adding a supplement

I have only been a Beek for three years but used Hive Alive for the first two, the colonies doing well the following year. Last year, I didn’t use it, and my colonies met problems, losing one of the two I had. I like the stuff.
