Jean Claud has done the washing. Joe Bloggs has fed the dogs. Yep, all cryptographic. Hombre returns home tomorrow.

    Any Ubuntu experts?

Been in touch with Hombre, he says that he should be around after mid afternoon Friday and could 'come to you' if you wish. He won't be home till Thursday morning though or he would have spoken to you directly. He says that if it were possible to steal the electricity at the joint where he met...

    Any Ubuntu experts?

My pal Hombre knows a bit about Linux, but you are right, we are all liars or you are thick as the proverbial. Shall we have a vote on it Pete? Just to be democratic . . . ha ha. Adios, WMSBoy

B&Q timber cutting - no longer much use?

Where I come from there are B&Q and Wickes outlets within about 200m of each other. I doubt that either is unaware of the unique selling points for their various 18mm ply offerings. Cheaper and better, or conveniently cut. I guess that each is addressing a slightly different market. Probably...

Cleaning frames after melting out comb?

Don't tell me, it's a wallpaper stripper from ScrewFix? I should save your frames, once you have increased your colony count to 12 or so, then you will begin to wish that you had considered a strategy for dealing with them. Store them now and deal with them as and when. A slightly modified...

An idea for wet storing comb.

You are unlikely to learn the truth Plumberman, because Poly Hive prefers to play with you all, rather than give you any solid clues. They will give the bees a good start next year when you return the supers to them. They will think that there is a flow on and get down to work without any delay.

Mmmmmm . . . pickled onion flavoured honey. Now that's a bit of lateral thinking.

    20kg of stores for winter

In the Glen hives, Hivemaker, do you just throw in the 25kg bags of sugar and let them get on with it?

    Hornets catching bees

Well, if you are likely to make lots of holes in the beehives, then you are unlikely to be lucky enough to hit any bees. If you can't figure out how not to hit beehives when shooting at hornets, then you had best give the rifle to someone else . . . ha ha. Nip them between finger and thumb...

Kieler upper body and the food compartment

Point of interest, has anyone weighed the fondant that will fit in that Kieler feeder? Surprise, surprise 1kg. I had to do a double take before I believed it myself. Thanks for the nosema heads up there Hivemaker.

    Feeding and apiguard treatment.

The danger is that that honey will be moved or deposited into the super while the Apiguard is on and will be tainted. If these supers are cleaned out by the bees before next season's crop, they will be perfectly OK as the tainted honey will have been removed and any vestiges of it in the wax...

    Colony management now !

Nosema is largely endemic. the question being how much and how problematical? Thymolated syrup is used as a bactericide(?) against spore buildup in the hive and fumadil-B where used is a prophylactic which prevents the nosema spores rupturing the gut wall within the individual bees, thus...

Brood removed by bees when Apiguard applied

Apiguard comes in two forms, the 10 dose box of trays and the 60 (?) dose bucket which comes with a spatula and cards. Whether the release agent is slightly different for the two variants or not I do not know, but the advisor may have more experience with the bulk bucket than with the...
