    High varroa

Probably because they didn't test for it.

    certan/b401 - do we not need a sticky ?

Citrus ... Certan contains spores of the bacterium ... these have a long life. There should be no need to spray more than once per season for stored frames. The spores remain dormant until the larvae eat them, then they reactivate and the larvae are killed. It's "fit and forget".

    Vaping schedule

3 or 4 times at 5 day intervals assuming there is brood in the colony. Which there should be now, but might not be next time you want to have a go. Hivemaker determined this empirically ...

swarm control - another option ?

No, it's poor management (for the reasons Beefriendly gives) and it's irresponsible. What if they move into the soffits above your neighbours porch? Or the church tower where the anaphylactic campanologist practices? They want to reproduce ... and many artificial swarm methods lets them do...

    Demaree method

The original Demaree stated the queen with a frame of unsealed brood and eggs, with the rest being comb ... with the caveat that foundation or foundationless are OK instead.

    Suggest best polyhive

Through the entrance though sealing the floor is a bit tricky. Abelo for me though with different floors and crownboards. Brood boxes and supers are good, roofs are OK. The great thing is they mix'n'match with DIY wood or other boxes of similar external dimensions. And no pesky lip...

swarm control - another option ?

    You'll miss one ... always.

    Not treating varroa

Interestingly 50-60 years is all it took for myxoma virus to become attenuated and rabbits to become more resistant when myxomatosis was introduced to Australia. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23055928 On introduction it was 99.99% lethal ... within 50 years this was reduced to less than...

    Repainting poly hives

For added strength on poly repairs e.g. a full dropped super :( you can drill and add dowels at the join. Works a treat with Gorilla glue.

Abelo varroa floor with wire screen

I think you'll find there are comparisons with at least two other floors including one truly excellent design from our very own Hivemaker ... ;)

    Cleaning polcarbonate crown boards

Use a blunted Stanley blade in one of those handles that you use for scraping paint off windows.

    Dead Bees

Not really 'loads' ... How many bees at the end of the summer ... ? Say 30,000. How many at the low point (numbers-wise) of the winter ... ? Probably <10,000 How many bees die a day (all other things being equal) ... ? ~150 There's probably only double that on the paving slab. I reckon it's...

And don't forget to strap everything down later today as they're predicting 50+mph winds in the North at least.

    Big Dead-Out / Varroa

Not CBPV. Wrong time of year. Colony not strong enough. Not enough dead bees outside the hive. Not foulbrood ... though tricky to tell if you test pollen! Sealed brood probably very old. Larvae? Really? Failed queen? High attrition rate due to poor mite management? Hive tool usage and the...

    foundationless frames

No you won't ... in a side by side comparison it makes no difference whether it's a foundation strip, waxed wooden tongue depressor/lolly stick or plain wood. Except the last one is much easier, never falls out, never needs replacing and - as domino says - goes through the wax extractor and...

    certan/b401 - do we not need a sticky ?

That web page is an advert to get you to buy their B401 ... there are two reports of B. thuringiensis (Bt) pathogenesis in humans, neither carried the insecticidal (cry) genes and so there's reasonable doubt they were Bt. Bt isn't genetically engineered.

    Swienty vs Abelo

Eh? A National wooden roof fits a poly brood/super that is of correct external National dimensions. Abelo and Swienty boxes are fine with wooden roofs. It's oversized poly that's not compatible.

    Air spray hives

I did with thinned Wilko smooth masonry paint. El Cheapo B&D spray gun. Two coats. OK finish (still going strong several years later) but frankly not as good a finish as using a brush and using gloss garage door paint.
