Here's the situation I have a new queen 6/7 weeks old . The hive is on brood + half there's no QC s but lots of sealed brood both worker and drone covering 8 frames lots of pollen and honey around brood frames . The middle two frames have no brood or stores and the out side frame has nothing in either . In the half they have drawn 9 frames out but no brood or stores in this half .above queen excluder there's two supers one full of honey and the second is wet with nectar . I couldn't find the queen yesterday .

This young queen have gone of lay and why ? As I said no QC s .
Would it be a good idea to put the half underneath ?
Cheers mark.

Don't panic, they go off lay for a number of reasons. Leave well alone except for swarm control and let them get on with it. Patience.....
There's nothing you can do anyway.

It's got to be 5/8 days now my calculations. Should I not be trying to find her my mentor advized me to look again today? I'm inclined to leave them another 3/5 days then give them a frame of brood and hope they don't build any QC s.
The queen excluder has come of to as its damaged so she could be any where in this hive my bet is the half . As there were lots of bee's in the half they were a bit jumpy also weather maybe

Theres a good flow on now so why would she stop my other queen is laying like mad. Beekeeping it keeps you on your toes...

Put a proper queen excluder back and look again in five days time. Where the eggs are, if there are any, is where the queen is.
You have capped brood. The fact that you can't find the queen is ...... Neither here nor there! ......eggs would be the best signifier.

I'm going to check in 3/5 days for eggs if none I'll give them some open brood plan or get a new queen in fact I don't want to lose production on this hive .

I would give a test frame but personally think you are jumping the gun with a new queen. You can't add one until you are sure you are queenless.......I say again, patience!!

Ive just inspected this hive the queen is there and layed in 6 frames of the half I didn't go into the main brood as its only been 3 days .
I'm leaving this hive for a week now . there wasn't any swarm cells in the brood and there's space for them to grow. Hopefully no more swarming from this hive .

Thanks for the update Curly, it's always good to know what happens. You can breath again now!
