... I don't mind dabbling in the dark arts over here, but as soon as i return home, I'm sure the force will find me again!

However, I'm sure you will be in demand to demonstrate "how you made those hives in Africa", and how one works them ... you may even find that, as an international authority on the things, you are being put forward to give a talk at next year's Spring Convention, although that might only be to upset some elements of the BBKA hierarchy! (Would you mind doing that?)

Mind doing that? not at all - the government has spent a lot of money to train me to a high level in upsetting people :D

That is odd because we have some pretty full on winters here and my hive does just fine. I also know beekeepers in sweden, canada, russia, and ukraine who use them with no problem.

My tbhs have survived -16C and my incompetence..

Looking at the bees in them today, they are flourishing.

Varroa counts? Very very low.

Lots of honey left over from last year.... I anticipated another bad winter.

Most TBH / Warre beekeepers are on other specialised forums. Like you, I swing by here occasionally, and whilst most participants are polite and respectful of others' views there are a lot of robust sceptics here, which discourages participation if your views differ.

The low intervention / natural selection style appeals to me, and I'm not too interested in honey yields. So this forum is more a place to pick up alternative ideas, keep an eye on trends and then move on.

Are there actually any top bar bee keepers who use this forum?
I am curious as I swing by here once in a while and there is no where near the activity for this hive type as with other forums.

I am here . Still have one colony in TBHs having been wiped out in TBHs by AFB this year.

(I am not too kindly disposed to the biobees forum having been roundly abused by the forum owner)

I don't care what septics sorry sceptics say or think

Sorry to hear of your bees misfortunes AFB is a nasty disease, and with eejits leaving contaminated ( probably illegally imported) infected honey lying around is something that makes me tremble in my boots.
No honey from my TBH as the Italian bees scoffed every bit as there was little forage... at least they have survived and are now lapping up galleons of invert as we speak...
what the TBH did do was to drone flood my NZI mating apiary with many thousands of beefy sexed up drones!
