I have three colonies and amongst them three nucs set as bait hives. also along side a readied hive.
1. what is the best practice in setting a nuc as a bait hive
2. Would there be an ideal location to set them
3, is height an important factor, if so what is recommended
4. Does the use of lemon grass oil work and if so, how best to use
5. All my nucs have five frames of new foundation. Is this the best option?
6. Where would be suitable locations for a bait hive in locality to apiary

Thanks for your efforts and advice:thanks:

I read quite a few pages on the internet about this and in the end set mine up in the garden about 6ft high up. It contains 3 old frames of comb with a few drops of lemongrass oil at the enterance, on top of the frames and on the back wall of the hive. Whilst I've had some interest not a lot has happened.

Doesn't matter. The thread I meant referred to putting out nucs as bait hives. The other likely had the same info but needed to be extracted.
