I have an old Cannon Sure Shot A80, which is now not reliable. It has been excellent and now needs to be replaced. I would like something similar, with good telescopic facility and the ability to take close ups. Any suggestions please.

Canon SX50, Bridge Camera!

Excellent, 50x optical, image stablised, that's 1200mm (zoom!).
