For my birthday my wife found a book by Simmins a Modern Bee Farm, inside there was a letter from the author Mr Simmins dated 1933. What a great find and a great read.

It is a fascinating book. Not least because it was written in a totally different era when frame beekeeping was new, skeppists were still common, Brother Adam wasn't yet born and Isle of Wight disease was a thing of the future. The agricultural landscape was also totally different. No rape, no pesticides or artificial nitrates, no motorised transport. But I still learned one or two things of practical value.
I have the 1888 edition but it sounds like you might have a later one.
