I'm getting very heavy butterscotch taste in my current honey crop. I'm in Isleworth/Twickenham area....my hives have always had a that flavour component but the note is very heavy this season.

Anyone have any thoughts on what might be causing it?

PS I know this is a tough question given you cannot taste but hoping some folks may pick up what I am getting at....

Is the honey slightly darker than normal, chestnut has been going well and think still has about another week around me

I'm told willowherb (fireweed) honey tastes buttery, but whether that equates with "butterscotch" I don't know. And there's not enough around me for my honey to be mostly fireweed so I've not first hand knowledge of the flavour.
