Fine nylon strainer or a jelly bag (if you don't have a proper two stage honey strainer). Put it all in the seive or the jelly bag, Hang them over a suitable container and the honey will run out over a few hours (overnight will usually do the trick). There will be some stickiness in the cappings left behind so wash and strain in cold water a few times and you will be left with crumbly dry capping wax.

There's lots of methods for filtering wax - I use an old funnel and discs of old flannellette sheets .. melt wax in a double boiler and pour through filtering medium .. may take a few runs through to get pure white capping wax in a block.

BUTTTT ... beware .. anything to do with melting beeswax will destroy any household seives you intend using for their original purpose. Car boot or ebay for suitable cheap utensils.

If it's cooking honey you need....dead easy..... stick everything in an oven at 90C....everything melts, allow to cool... wax on top honey at bottom gunge in-between.

After straining honey as described in above posts i get a Tropicana carton chop the top off, put the wax debri and all into the carton and pop in oven on a low heat. All the wax seperates from the rubbish and it hardens into a swuare block. Tho i love beefriendly's idea even more!

I use the microwave. When the lot has melted let it cool, knock a hole in the wax cap and pour the honey into a jar. Fine on toast and in coffee. Wax gets washed and goes in solar melter with other wax.
