Anyone used one of these??:
wasp out

I had wasps robbing the honey in the brood box this autumn and used one of these with good results. I still have it in place, and although my hive is now all prep'd for winter I was wondering whether to remove it or leave it in place for the winter.

Essentially it is an entrance block with a small entrance slit covered by a bit of plastic trunking used in the electrical trade to make a tube that the bees exit/enter through. The front of the tube is actually just clipped on and could be removed (as per plastic trunking), but I don't even see much point in doing that.

If you search previous posts by Victor Meldrew you might find something very similar described.

I made a couple last year which worked really well.

This year - well I think I've got some daft bees. When the wasps started being a nuisance I fitted them. The bees flew around outside unable to figure out how to get in, the wasps just zoomed in and out without any problem.

From which I draw the conclusion that you never can tell with bees.
