Thanks. I do want to make sure that I fully understand the basics before I make the decision. Finding it difficult to get any practical experience so far (we rarely go away, but we just happen to be away for both the local BKA classes this month), but hoping to find a way sometime soon.

I watched the Martha Kearney tv programmes a couple of years ago, and she did seem to make it all sound very complicated! The more I read, the more I understand that a/ I will never know enough, but equally b/ bees are amazing and don't 'need' humans in the way I thought they did.

It's not rocket science - it's far more complicated :)

Oh. My. Word. Finally got my hands in a hive (well five hives) today.

Utterly hooked.

Probably a good thing they don't sell bees in Tesco, I'd have been in there shopping on my way home 😂😂

don't worry that's how it starts next thing you know it's how do i get more space for hives, or well i will just spit this hive as i don't want to get rid of that old queen one more hive can't hurt

I can well imagine! Have negotiated space for two hives so far with the gardener :)

...and have now 'negotiated' a timeframe for him to do the necessary levelling up of the area in preparation :) (i.e. ASAP)
