Wanting to unit 3 hives. Can this done at once or is it best to do in stages?

Hi unite all 3 hives at the same time
there will be no fighting as there is with 2 hives as the 3 different smells confuse the bees do remember to make sure there is only one queen

Do you mean put all three into one....or six into three?

I've heard of people just throwing three together, interleaving combs (usually with lots of icing sugar and room freshener) to create total confusion, and leaving them to sort themselves out.
Not convinced it is ideal though...

In which case, provided you are SURE of the queen situation do them all at once, makes no difference, it's confusion anyway!
