Hi all got a phone call today from the farmer. Did I want a swarm . When I get there it's in a big old tree . One entrance any one done a trap out whats your thoughts . Can't cut the old tree up . Cheers

Wait and catch a swarm from them next year. Another option is to place a small nuc close to the entrance using a piece of foam an crown board with a queen escape the bees can come out but not back in, they will go to the nuc, after a week remove the now full nuc with all of the flying bees

Hi biglad,
Would leave them to their own devices as I assume they are not doing any harm. If you want a swarm then this is not the one. It will take a long time up to six weeks and you may still not get a queen. Saying this I have just started one in the ventilation shaft of a listed church, but they are a nuisance there. I will unite these bees with a small nuc I have got.
