We are all getting a bit self righteous aren't we
What works for one beekeeper may not work for another. It's part of what makes the craft interesting.
Our most successful beekeeper at my association generally has all his shook swarms finished in early March. He does keep extremly strong hives. When I talk to him about this I just end up smiling and shaking my head as it sends the fear of God through me, but he has the colonies and the numbers to back up that it's part of what he does to be so successful.
I should add as someone may ask. He generally averages 100lbs of honey per hive and some hives way over that.
